The Distillery Club – NOTL

What: Distillery Club

Where: HT116, NOTL Campus

When: Meets once a week, Tuesdays at 6:30

How to Join: email Tim at tmiller16@ncstudents.niagaracollege.ca

There is a sweet aroma in the air that pleasantly hits you when walking into the distillery, almost as sweet as the Distillery Club itself. Everyone is focused and very passionate about what they are doing and it shows.

Tim Miller is one of few artisan distilling students and no stranger to Niagara College, he recently graduated from the Brewmaster program this spring. His end goal is to be brewing or distilling in Europe. In the meantime, Tim along with 3 other students, Melissa, Aislin and Evan founded the Distillery club as a place for those interested in learning as much as they can about all things spirits to gather.

Being from a brewing background Tim sees this club not only as a great fit for students in the Artisan Distilling program but also for Brewery and Winery students as well. It is an excellent opportunity to cross educate and learn about other processes.

This is club features weekly drop-ins by various industry leaders from all over. Just last week they had a brand ambassador in from Hendrick’s Gin who provided them samples of each product in it’s different processes to examine. It is a one of a kind chance to network and learn from professionals in their field while enjoying time with like minded students.

This club is open to every student on campus who is as passionate about spirits as they are, however please note due to availability, preference go for distilling, brewery and winery students first.

Loving out Loud (lol) Club – NOTL

What: Loving out Loud (LOL) - LGBTQ+ Club

Where: On NOTL Campus

When: Twice a month (flexible)

How to Join: email Felipe at fdeoliveirareis@ncstudents.niagaracollege.ca

Can you imagine living in a world where just being yourself could be dangerous? As Canadians we might have a hard time wrapping our heads around this notion but for many of our international students it is a daily reality.

Loving out Loud club is a safe space for EVERYONE to be who they are.

Felipe, a second year Sales and Marketing student with one of the biggest hearts on campus co-founded this group with Dalton Bird and Julia Owen.

Felipe himself came to Canada from Brazil in hopes of finally having the opportunity to live his life out loud without fearing violent reciprocation.

This club is open to ALL students, it is LGBTQ+ and GSA friendly.

This club meets twice monthly and focuses on spreading awareness, sharing stories and learning more about LGBTQ history through presentations and open discussions.

This upcoming week LOL Club looks forward to hosting a presentation from an international student in the LGBTQ+ community and her experience on her life in Russia, the culture and the country.

The main goal of this club is to gather like-minded people who have a hope for a better future to spread awareness and promote advocacy.

We can make a difference.
